Room 16 - Mrs Manu Fonohema
Welcome to Room 16!
Kia Ora Talofa Kiaorana Malo e Lelei
Room 16 is a Year 5/6 class of 26 diligent children with gorgeous 15 girls and spectacular 11 boys.
"LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH" and "BELIEVE IN YOURSELF" are our mottos for this year. We believe everyone lives to love and to be loved whereas a laugh is a symbol of happiness. Children learn better when they are happy so the bunch of children in Room 16 are happy lots who always believe in themselves. We believe that we can be glistening STARS that are going to shine in the coming future.
In Room 16, we enjoy experiencing Inquiry Learning like other children in New Zealand. Reading, Writing and Maths are the three major curriculum areas. Our topics for Term One are 'Who am I?" and "Be Healthy and Be Active".
Almost every child in Room 16 has a device to use every day so we are very fortunate to be in an E-Learning class with laptops, Chromebooks and Ipads as well as a big flatscreen TV that enables us to incorporate Inquiry Learning all throughout the curriculum areas.
However, we believe doing extra work at home helps to enhance children's learning and develop positive study skills and habits that will serve them well throughout their lives. So, parents and caregivers, please encourage your child/ren to practice their times tables, their weekly spelling words and also to spend at least 20 minutes to read their school journal every night. If it is possible, allow them to go on our two online learning sites (Mathletics and Reading Eggspress) to do more practice of what they are learning at school.
