Inati in Tokelau
In the Tokelauan culture they have an Inati system. I think this is a wonderful way to give food to the local villagers. The idea behind this idea is the men who are strong enough to fish, they go out and fish for the village. They have to think about how much fish they need to catch in order to feed everybody. They have to think about how many houses there are and how many people live in their houses. That would be a lot of fish! The women cook the fish. But what a great way to give back to the community. Thanks to Mrs Lologa for bringing the Inati idea to my attention. Do you know of a system like this in your culture? If so, let me know.
Question time
What is the Inati system?
Who fishes for the village?
How do you think they catch all the fish?

Malolo nakai a koe? How are you?
Malolo, Fakaaue. I am fine, thank you.
Here are some other ways you could describe how you are feeling = Mata momoko- I am sad. Mata fiafia – I am happy. Mata ita – I am angry. Mata fia mohe – I am tired. Mata tupetupe – I am scared. Mata gagao – I am sick. Watch the video below to learn some more words to describe how you are feeling:

Mrs Young has tried to learn some Niuean words this week. Listen to the story to see if you can work out what she is saying.
Sometimes when I feel upset or angry I do one of the things in this picture to help me calm down. Can you think of something you do when you are upset? See if you can remember one of these things from the picture and the next time you feel angry try and use it. Maybe you could write me a story about what happened and which picture you used to help you calm down.
Niuean Flag
Here is a picture of the Niuean flag. Can you draw and colour in using the correct colours like the Nuiean flag below? Then send a picture of this to me so I can post it on our page.

To celebrate Wellness this week we are going to make a "Worry Jar": This is a good thing to make because it can help you when you feel stressed or scared. You just need to write your worries on a piece of paper and store them away in a jar overnight and not worry about it. In the morning if you are still worried maybe you could share your worries with someone you trust. Here is a video of how I made a worry jar. Can you make one too?
To celebrate Tuvalu language week Listen to this fun story about how Tuvalu got it's name. Can you draw a picture of the eel and the flounder? What name would you give them? How many islands did the big rock break into?
