On Wednesday, September the 11th we had our Term 3 Duffy Assembly. Our Role Model was Jamaine Ross, a born and bred Christchurchian who is becoming a well-known comedic face on New Zealand television as 'The brown guy with the beard and the hat'. He's a regular on TV3's '7 Days', has appeared on TV3's 'After Hours', featured on Maori TV's satirical comedy show, 'Brown Eye', and has made cameo appearances on TV3's 'Jono and Ben' and 'Funny Girls'. His stand-up comedy achievements include winning the Raw Comedy Quest in 2012, opening for Tenacious D on their New Zealand tour in 2013, and being nominated for the prestigious Billy T Award in 2014 On top of all of that, he spends his days as a writer on TV3's 'Jono and Ben', records a weekly comedy podcast with his comedian friends called 'The Issues Podcast', and is one third of sketch comedy trio, 'Frickin Dangerous Bro'. He's basically a super busy and talented dude who brings a whole lot to the table when he's on stage, where he can best be described as 'thoughtful and intelligent', 'likeable and laidback', but most importantly 'brilliantly funny'. Flat Bush School thanks Jamaine for spending his time with us and encouraging us to read.
