In the Kakano team, your children will have the opportunity to explore, experiment, discover and solve problems in imaginative and playful ways. Our key practice, involves teachers supporting specific skills, values and knowledge development by intentionally teaching the knowledge, the values and the skills needed by children to advance or extend their learning. This happens while they are engaged in play and during direct acts of teaching in our classrooms.

We have created classrooms and discovery environments with diverse interest areas, that offer rich opportunities for our tamariki to become lifelong learners.

We believe that happy and secure children, develop a strong sense of well being and self esteem, in an environment where problem solving and flexible thinking is encouraged.

Within the Kakano team, your child will have opportunities to develop their social skills, form friendships and gain an appreciation of our Flat Bush school values.

We hope to develop strong links with your child, your whanau and the wider community, as we work together towards success for all our tamariki. "ka whiti ano, teitahi tātou, ka whiti katoa" when one shines we all shine.

Connections between family and school are key - Mahi ngatahi, Whakawhanaungatanga - working together and establishing links, relationships and learning partnerships - you are welcomed!  You are your child’s first teacher! Your experiences, knowledge and language are gifts you can share! We want you to be part of our journey with us.

He waka eke noa

A canoe which we are all in with no exception - we are all in this together.
