Week 6 - Term 1
Apologies whanau I have been sick this week and have been unable to be at school. I know the tamariki of Room 1 have been working really hard and trying their best for the relief teachers. I look forward to getting back next week and hearing all of their fun and exciting stories.
Week 5 - Term 1
We are very luck in Room 1 to have the support of Mrs Tito. This week each day she did a patch play session with the learners of Room 1. Patch play is a programme that is used to help build memory, thinking and oral language, writing and reading skills in a FUN way!
This week we also focused on the big book "Smarty Pants". As a class we brainstormed and talked about all of the things that we are good at, it was great for the children to recognise skills that they can bring into the classroom and share with their friends.
If you have a chance please do stop by Room 1 and take a look at our "Smarty Pants" artwork we have hanging up, the children are very proud of it.
Week 4 - Term 1
This week has been full of lots of exciting learning. We have started our writing, reading and math's programme, we have explored our outside play environment, we visited Flat Bush Kindy and we got to cool down on Friday afternoon with some refreshing water play.
It has been lovely this week working with each learner within Room 1 and beginning to build on the skills they already have. They have enjoyed learning to write in their writing books and were very excited to begin taking their book bags home to share with their whanau.
Ka pai tamariki ma, Miss Shoemark is so proud of you all.
Week 3 - Term 1
On Friday we had the opportunity to spend the day at Totara Park. Thank you to all of our parents that came along to help and support our classroom, I couldn't have done it without you all.
The children has lots of fun playing and exploring. We spent time at the playgrounds, a bush walk that included 100 stairs, picnic lunch and to finish the day a refreshing swim. By the time we boarded the buses to go back to school the children were very tired and all fell asleep.
Enjoy your weekend Room 1.
Week 2 - Term 1
As we reach the end of week 2, I would like to acknowledge the tamariki within Room 1 for the positive transition they have made into beginning their time at Flat Bush Primary School. They have had lots of fun over the last few days getting to know one another and exploring their new environment. A big thank you for all of your support and aroha that you have provided your children to help them settle in.
Kia Ora, Kia Orana, Talofa Lava, Malo e Lelei, Fakaalofa Lahi Atu, Bula Vinaka, Namaste, Ni Hao and Hello. My name is Miss Cassandra Shoemark and I have the privilege of teaching in Room 1 this year.
Room 1 is the transition classroom between Early Childhood or Home experiences and beginning school. This space is where our youngest learners will start their school journey. Within this space your child will have the opportunity to develop early learning, foundation and social skills. These include, but are not limited to: fine motor skills, gross motor skills, eye/hand coordination development, social interaction skills, reading, writing, math's and oral language development and communication.
I look forward to helping the tamariki of Room 1 as they begin their schooling journey. It is an exciting time for all of them and I look forward to watching as they each grow and develop both within themselves and within their learning.
